SCOOPS lacrosse ORIGIN STORY
how a total dad Fail led to the opportunity to Inspire kids every day.
Scoops Lacrosse was born in 2017 after Coach Bels failed attempts to get his 5-year-old son, Archer, interested in lacrosse. Frustrated, Coach Belson changed tactics by turning drills into a game using colored cones and points. To my surprise, Archer asked to play again, eager to improve. Coach Belson realized that young kids value fun and challenge over traditional drills, sparking a passion in me to rethink youth sports.
As Coach Belson learned more, he became concerned about the increasing competitiveness and cost of youth sports, leading to early specialization and burnout. By age 13, 70% of kids quit organized sports. In response, he left his corporate job to focus on creating fun, confidence-building experiences for kids through Scoops Lacrosse.
Seven years and 15,000 "scoopers" later, he remains dedicated to helping kids discover their strengths through play, fostering joy and confidence along the way.
